The Night Will Come

J.R. Lott, M4, Class of 2020

A blue sky

gives way to dark.

A lone cloud gets lost

in a sea of stars.

Colors flee from

the dusk sky.

I ponder

my place in it;

what impact I have.

Despite all my work,

blind ambition,

and worry,

stars appear

night after night.

The earth does not slow,

nor the slightest breeze

alter its path.

The night comes.

And with it,

I must relax.

To enjoy the cool dark,

before the day returns,

work continues,

and I tire.
